Physical Therapy and Rehab
Dr. Tarrash is a board-certified physician in physical medicine and rehabilitation. In addition, he works with a variety of physical and occupational therapists throughout South Florida. He and his staff use all the latest techniques to assist you with your pain, injury, or other joint problems.
One of the most effective treatment methods we use to treat all types of pain and injuries is physical therapy. Physical therapy can improve your movement, mobility, and function while also reducing pain and other discomforts. Physical therapy uses a variety of exercises, stretches, and other physical activities and therapeutic treatments. It can be used to treat shoulder, knee, back, neck, and chronic pain, as well as pain associated with accidents and personal, sports, or workplace injuries.
Aqua therapy is essentially physical therapy in a pool. Aqua therapy is an intervention used to assist in physical therapy for patients who cannot participate in high-impact exercises because they could further damage compromised joints. Aqua therapy is also helpful for those who can’t engage in normal physical therapies due to physical limitations. During aqua therapy, a physical therapist will work with you in a pool or other aquatic environment. The goals of aqua therapy are to:
- Improve flexibility
- Improve balance and coordination
- Build muscle strength and endurance
- Enhance aerobic capacity
- Assist with gait and locomotion
- Reduce stress and promote relaxation
Occupational therapy (OT) is different than physical therapy (PT). While PT is meant to strengthen your muscles and improve your balance and endurance, OT focuses on your ability to complete daily activities, such as dressing and bathing yourself. OT works on patients with cognitive and sensory disabilities. Occupational therapists help overcome barriers causing issues with physical, emotional, and social needs.
Dr. Tarrash offers physical therapy (PT) in addition to other treatments to strengthen muscles, increase range of movement, improve balance and endurance, and reduce pain symptoms. He uses physical therapy as a conservative treatment to treat joint, neck, and back pain caused by all types of injuries and conditions.
